Ugly Stepsisters

Tonight I went to Ballet West's production of Cinderella and it was wonderful.  I was really excited when I learned that Christiana Bennett, my favorite ballerina in the company, would be dancing the role of Cinderella.  I always hope that she will be paired with her real-life husband Christopher Ruud but the dancer playing Prince Charming (Rex Tilton) is very easy on the eyes!  The scene where Cinderella dances with a broom is absolutely charming and the grande pas de deux between Cinderella and the Prince at the ball is incredibly beautiful and romantic, but, in my opinion, the stepsisters completely steal the show!  They are portrayed by men, with rather large feet, and their antics are hilarious.  I laughed out loud when they danced at the ball and lifted their partners and when they tried to stuff their aforementioned feet into the glass slipper!  The costumes and sets are amazing and the music by Prokofiev is just lovely.  I thoroughly enjoyed myself and recommend getting a ticket to this delightful ballet if you are local.
