I have basically been fighting a cold since winter break started but I finally succumbed and stayed home yesterday to take care of myself. I really hate admitting that I am sick because I like to think of myself as invincible (and I don't like to miss any fun).
Since having a cold means I pretty much have to carry tissues on my person at all times, I decided to make the cute tissue covers I found here.
I bought a multi-pack of pocket sized tissues and then I raided my fabric stash.
Cut a piece of fabric 6" X 6 1/2". Place right side of fabric down and fold the 6" sides of the fabric up 1/4" and press. Top-stitch along both edges. Place the wrong side of the fabric down and bring the two top-stitched edges towards the middle so they touch but don't overlap and press. Sew the two sides together using a 1/2" seam allowance. Turn inside out and fill with tissues.
This is a really simple sewing project suitable for beginners. I made ten of them (a few for me and a few to give away) from start to finish in less than half an hour.
Definitely give these a try! They would be great gifts for teachers since we always seem to need tissues and hand sanitizer!
