Yesterday was a day off from school and I really wanted to see a movie. However, none of the new movies currently in theaters interested me in the slightest so I went with Marilyn to see Les Miserables for the fifth time. It is that good. To me this movie is a brilliant combination of Victor Hugo's masterpiece with Boublil and Schonberg's iconic musical. The story of Jean Valjean's redemption set against revolutionary France will break your heart and the stirring music will touch your soul. All of the actors give emotional and powerful performances and I am more and more impressed with Russell Crowe. This time his rendition of "Stars" gave me goose bumps and I literally could not stop crying when Javert placed his medal on Gavroche's body. I still think "Empty Chairs At Empty Tables" is the highlight for me but this time I found Eddie Redmayne's performance of "A Little Fall Of Rain" with Samantha Barks to be especially affecting. In that moment you really feel like Marius loves Eponine and she is able to die happy. I have a soft spot for the character of Eponine and always I want Marius to love her instead of Cosette. Whatever... I enjoyed this movie just as much, if not more, the fifth time as I did the first time and I highly recommend it!

Wow, 5 times?! That's quite a few, for sure, but I agree, that's the kind of movie you can watch again and again!
ReplyDeleteWe went yesterday as well. Wow so powerful. It absolutely left us speachless. We saw it at the Capital Theatre a few years ago and it was well done, but this one. Wow. I can see why you have seen it so many times.
ReplyDeleteHey, I'm your newest follower! Found you through the blog hop! I love the movie too! I was like sobbing at the end!

Five times!! I'm jealous, I've only seen it three times. But I might squeeze in a viewing this weekend...
