2013

New Year's Eve is a time when I like to look back and reflect on the year that was but this year the task was a difficult one because 2012 was filled with challenges.  I know that there were many highs (I was able to take the trip of a lifetime to Kenya and Tanzania) but, unfortunately, they are overshadowed by the devastating lows.  As much as I want to remember 2012 in a positive light, I fear I will always think of it as the "Year of the Fire."
In 2013 I am taking steps to ensure that I will remember all of the wonderful moments no matter what challenges I may have to face.  I found this fabulous idea here.  You start the year with an empty jar and every time something good happens you write it down on a piece of paper and place it inside.  On New Year's Eve you can open it up and recap a year of happy memories.
I found my jar at Walmart for $4.97 and I had a friend create the "2013" out of black vinyl for me.  I tied some ribbon from my stash around the top and now it is ready for all of my memories.
I'm really looking forward to starting my jar and making the most out of 2013!

Note:  I already have a great memory to put in my jar.  I spent New Year's Day with my family watching the movie Les Miserables...again!  For those of you keeping score at home, I have now seen it four times!
